Confidence Comes From Within

Confidence is within all of us.

Some people have more confidence than others, but we all have it.

Building confidence takes practice. It could be talking in public, singing, writing, dancing. Whatever it is, it is built over time.

However, if you want to find confidence, you won’t find it from someone else. We often look for compliments, acknowledgement and reassurance. Whilst this is good, it is also short lived.

Confidence is a feeling that we create within and to build that confidence you need to go back to your roots and beliefs.

Just Say It

Have you ever been in the position where you wouldn’t speak up in meetings or events and then everyone else would share ideas, laugh and have fun?

I used to be like that, I used to be afraid to speak up. It made me feel as though I didn’t have anything interesting to share and that I was boring.

What changed?

I started to believe that what I had to say was important and worth sharing and I also believed that I could speak up. I began to feel part of the fun and conversations and now it isn’t an option to not be heard.

Remember that you are more than your anxiety. Don’t listen to your negative beliefs. That self-confidence is within.

Wear It With Confidence

Confidence Has No Competition.

When I was growing up, it wasn’t about the types of clothes we wore, it was about how skinny and how flat your stomach was.

When I think back, it is something that actually sill grates me now.

What we experience shape who we are as people.

The lifestyle above taught me:

Eat less and do tonnes of cardio

Physical health over mental health

You need to look a certain way to fit in.

In reality this isn’t the truth. You don’t need to look or be a certain way.

Confidence isn’t just about your body. It is also about wearing clothes you feel comfortable in, prioritising self-care and eating foods that make you feel good. It isn’t about following trends at the cost of your mental health.

Your Body Loves You

Summer is slowly creeping up on us, and it brings about the feelings of bad body image days.

If you are having one of those bad body image days, there are a few things that you can do to shift this.

  1. Wear clothes that you feel comfortable in, not the tight skirt or hot pants. Loose fitting is best.
  2. Quit body checking. It won’t do you any good, it will make you feel more self-conscious.
  3. Talk nicely to your body. Give it positive affirmations.
  4. Remember no-one cares. Believe me, the number of times I thought people would notice if I carry extra weight or am bloated and I panicked but the reality of the situation was that no-one noticed or cared.

Take a step back and appreciate the body for what it does for you.

Happiness Exists In Acceptance

I took a photo the other day and looked it and immediately thought to myself ‘I look fat and have a double chin.’

What I then began to think is so many people must look in the mirror and think that their body isn’t ideal like all those people we see on social media.

It is so important to embrace our bodies and feel strong and empowered.

I find that when taking pictures, I stand up tall, tense my body and I go through hundreds of takes when trying to take the ‘perfect picture’.

What I need to remind myself is that we need to normalise being comfortable in our body and accepting ourselves. We have been given the assets we have for a reason.

I am not taking hundreds of photos anymore, what I am doing is being happy with the body I have and sharing that. Share the body love and acceptance.

Get Rid Of Your Inner Critic

How often do you body check?

By body checking I mean, looking in the mirror many times thought the day, picking on your physical appearance and pinching and squeezing certain parts of your body.

How does doing this make you feel? Do you feel stressed or does it make you feel better?

If it gets in the way of your day to day activities and makes you severely change your habits, it will be considered compulsive.

A few thing that you can to if you find yourself body checking:

  1. Keep a log off when it occurs and how often.
  2. Workout if there are certain situations that trigger you to body check
  3. Practice affirmations and self-love
  4. Remove yourself from social media for a bit in order to stop comparing yourself to others.

You are worth more than your thoughts.

Don’t Be The Loudest

Self confidence isn’t about being the loudest or biggest personality in the room.

It actually means not caring about how loud or quiet you are. It means focusing on your happiness above all.

If you constantly sit there and wonder what other people are thinking and comparing yourself to them and using this as a benchmark of where you feel you should be, then this isn’t self confidence.

Rewire your through patterns, try something new such as art, knitting, music etc. Find something that supports your patterns. That is when you really begin to feel confident.

Fitness Is A Lifestyle

I have been thinking a lot the past few weeks about the fitness industry.

The fitness lifestyle can be perceived as egocentric- causing people to become obsessed with their body and what they look like, when in reality there is a lot more to the fitness industry and lifestyle.

I have found that the fitness industry has made me feel more confident within myself and I can apply this to other aspects of my life. The main things that I have discovered is that it shows me that I have the potential to do anything that I want to do, along with being able to do things that I find difficult, plus it helps me to feel good both inside and out.

This isn’t just what fitness does but also other methods of self-care can do. Making yourself feel good on a general basis and loving yourself helps to be become self-efficient.

As an online coach, I aim to help people feel confident within themselves by instructing them on how to treat their body with:

 1. Respect
2. Good Nutrition
3. Positive Mental Health
4. Physical Exercise.

This isn’t just so that they can feel good when they look at themselves but so they feel that they can become the best version of themselves through achieving what they work for and towards.

Each one of us must be visible for ourselves and show up for ourselves. The most powerful weapon is the human soul.

Alignment Affects Perception

Just as much as the next person, I am all about living in a world that is full of rainbows and unicorns however, if that is what you believe living in alignment is then unfortunately you have been tricked.

When you are considering alignment, you need to ask the question, what version of yourself are you aligning to?

If you feel that all is good and you have got all that you want then that is fine, you can keep aligning with the current version of yourself.

However, if you want something different and you are feeling stuck in a rut and you are aligning to your current self, you will keep feeling this way.

On the other hand, your future self may be different to who you are at the moment.

This person may be more:

  • Open
  • Patient
  • Confident
  • Courageous
  • Outgoing
  • Expressive
  • Loyal

And there are so many more words that I could go on and on.

Instead of actually trying to seek alignment, ask yourself

  1. What could you do that will make you feel proud?
  2. What actions would increase your self-esteem?
  3. What could make you feel more confident?
  4. What would the successful and future me do?

By asking yourself these questions, they will keep you in alignment with something that helps you to improve and better yourself rather than feeling uncomfortable and unsure with your current situation.
