Love Your Food

Hey There! How are you?

I am coming at you with the word temptation when it comes to food. Do you remove all temptation?

No.

How do you fix this?

  1. Portion the food rather than handfuls of the food.
  2. Be consistent. Your relationship with food won’t change overnight. Keep eating the foods even if you do have a slip up.
  3. Get someone who can hold you accountable. That can be a coach or a family member or friend. Message or call them.
  4. Allow yourself to have the foods. Take the negative stigma away that foods are bad and enjoy it.

What other ways help you to build a healthy relationship with food?

It Is A Choice

Being busy isn’t an excuse.

As someone who works and has their own business, it does feel as though life can get a bit much but I have to remember a few things:

  • I choose to exercise 4 times a week.
  • I chose to walk and do my steps throughout the day to avoid pain.
  • I choose to drink my 2litres of water.
  • I choose to practice being mindful.

I choose to prioritise my health and wellbeing because if I feel good inside, it will show on the outside.

I am not perfect and there are some weeks where I am slower or I choose to workout twice a week, but having these boundaries in place set me up to be the best and most successful version of myself and you can do this too, anything is possible when you put in the work.

Ignore The Scale

Fitness will always be a crazy, but what is even more crazy is the impact that a number has on our mental health.

The number I am talking about is the number on the scale. I hear this from clients frequently.

It isn’t ever easy seeing a bigger number on the scale, but what I can tell you is:

  • You look good with curves
  • You are gaining muscle
  • Your energy levels will be better
  • Your body and hormones will function correctly

I always find that when tracking progress, the best way to do this is through taking pictures as opposed to relying on the number on the scale.

Stop The Snacking

Food is our main source of energy and if we skip meals to snack, our bodies are only going to function optimally.

Our energy will be low, our digestion will be out of sorts and we will bloat more frequently, our natural hunger cues can get messed up, we may feel grumpy and we may eventually end up over eating.

The best thing to do is to start the day with a solid, balanced meal full of carbs, protein and fats, and continue this pattern throughout the day which well leave us feeling full and satisfied.

Enjoy Your Food

With December being here and Christmas just around the corner, the subject of food often crops up.

If we see food as neither good or bad, does that mean we shouldn’t see it as an energy source for our body, especially if we are listening to our body when it tells us that it is hungry?

Food isn’t just fuel. It is a connection that we have socially when we go out to eat with friends or have dinner round the table, it is comfort and it is fun. Food is part of our lives.

We want to see food in a way that we don’t feel guilty when we eat something that is not so nutritious. We want and need to be able to understand what our body needs without having to restrict foods.

Give yourself the freedom to eat for pleasure this holiday period. Not everything has to do with our physical health. The enjoyment is just as important.

Happy 1st Birthday Live Like KK!

Today marks one year since Live Like KK was born.

I cannot believe how fast a year has gone. Starting a new business venture, especially during a pandemic can be scary, but without a doubt this has to be the best decision I have made.

Seeing my blog grow (I love writing and inspiring you all) and seeing the progress my clients have made and are making is just such a good feeling.

Doing exactly what I want I want to be doing, coaching people, helping people to create the life they want and living a life they love, couldn’t make me happier.

This post is just to say thank you for all the support that you have given me over the year and I can’t wait to continue this journey with you all and any newcomers to the Live Like KK Community.

Life Is A Matter Of Choices

I want to ask you a question. Do yo struggle with making choices for your body?

Should you eat 3 big meals or 6 smaller ones?

Should you take a rest day or not?

Should you do cardio or weights?

If so, I can relate. Thoughts like these run through my head frequently and getting it right is simply a matter of trying and failing.

The key here is to learn to listen to what your body is saying. Just because one person needs x amount of calories, it doesn’t mean you need it. Just because they do more cardio over weightlifting, it doesn’t mean that you have to follow suit. We all require a different level of things, and no body is exactly the same.

Allow your body to take the time that it needs to work for you and make you feel like your best self.

I Can, But I Wont

One of the worst feelings is being stuck and feeling unmotivated.

I get you because I have been there.

The feeling of not wanting to get out of bed, not feeling strong enough, both mentally and physically, under or overeating and not being able to focus.

The reason we often begin to feel unmotivated is because we put a lot of pressure on ourselves to do the most thing possible and the best that we can. The thing that I finds works best for me if I feel myself getting like this, is to take time off from social media and turn off my laptop. Setting this boundary works wonders.

Another thing that helps is to get your 7-9 hours sleep, drink your 2litres of water, have your fruit and veg and take some time for self-care, whether that is listening to a song you like, spending time with family, having a nice walk or a long soak.

The small things all equate to big results.

Get Rid Of Your Inner Critic

How often do you body check?

By body checking I mean, looking in the mirror many times thought the day, picking on your physical appearance and pinching and squeezing certain parts of your body.

How does doing this make you feel? Do you feel stressed or does it make you feel better?

If it gets in the way of your day to day activities and makes you severely change your habits, it will be considered compulsive.

A few thing that you can to if you find yourself body checking:

  1. Keep a log off when it occurs and how often.
  2. Workout if there are certain situations that trigger you to body check
  3. Practice affirmations and self-love
  4. Remove yourself from social media for a bit in order to stop comparing yourself to others.

You are worth more than your thoughts.

Fear Of The Unknown

The fear of the unknown, is something that holds many of us back.

We have to accept that things do not always go to plan, and the things that do happen are meant to happen.

For those of you that have a fear of putting on weight, if you happen to put on a few pounds, it was meant to happen and your body needed it.

For those of you that are scared of getting the support, we need the support. Everyone needs support, regardless of how strong you are.

The key takeaway here, is to allow yourself to feel fear, but we shouldn’t let the fear take control of us and our life.
